FAQ

  • What do you sell in your store?
In the Spring, we sell high quality, annual bedding plants, vegetables and hanging baskets, and a small selection of perennials. We also have soil, fertilizer and planter containers available. At Christmastime, we sell a huge variety of quality poinsettias, as well as mixed planters, outdoor winter green planters, wreaths and door swags.
  • Do you have gift cards available?
Yes we do! You can purchase a gift card in store, for any denomination you choose.
  • Do you have any perennials?
We grow a huge variety of annuals, and we are just starting to grow a limited selection of perennials as well.
  • Why is your store "Temporarily Closed"?
We are a seasonal nursery and are open for 2 seasons: In the Spring from early-April until early June, and before Christmas from mid-November until mid-December. Our retail store is closed outside of these seasons.
  • Where do you get your plants from?
We grow all of our bedding plants, hanging baskets and vegetables ourselves! We start them from either seeds or cuttings. We do this to ensure the highest quality of products are available to you, as we can control how they are cared for from the very start. We bring in a small selection of indoor tropical houseplants to be available to you as we believe plants should be enjoyed indoors as well as outdoors.
  • What are your hours of operation?
We are open 9am-6pm, Monday to Saturday, from early April until early June. We are open 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday, from mid-November until mid-December. We are closed outside of these seasons.
  • Is there a place to return used trays and pots?
We do not take them back. They can be recycled at home in your blue bin.
  • Do you sell potting soil?
Yes we do! We sell it in 40L bags and it is made up of 55% Peat Moss, 25% Perlite and 20% Douglas Fir Bark. It is a versatile potting soil great for bedding plants and vegetables. Use in baskets, planters and landscapes. It is very similar to the soil that we use to grow all of our plants in.
  • When can I plant my vegetables outside?
Hardy vegetables (kale, lettuce, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, leek) can be planted a bit earlier, as soon as it will no longer freeze at night. Fruit producing plants, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squashes etc, should be kept warm and only planted outside once the nighttime temperatures are consistently above 10 degrees C.
  • What is the difference between an annual and a perennial plant?
Annuals are plants that need to be replanted each year. While these plants will not survive the winter, they offer quick growth and full colour and foliage all growing season, which makes them stand out. Perennials are plants that live for more than two years and are winter hardy depending on which zone they are in. We grow a vast array of annual plants. We grow a limited variety of perennials.
  • Do I need to fertilize my hanging baskets?
When you purchase one of our hanging baskets, we fertilize it for you as you leave. We use a slow release fertilizer that lasts for about 3 months. This will help ensure that your baskets thrive. You may choose to fertilize it again approximately 3 months after your purchase date.
  • Aphids have found their way into my garden/flowers. What can I do to remove them?
Aphids can often be controlled by spraying soapy water on your plants where they are found. Mix a few drops of dish soap with water into a spray bottle. Spray the affected plants every few days for about 2 weeks.
  • What is the difference between determinate and indeterminate tomatoes?
Determinate varieties (including bush varieties) reach a certain plant height and then stop growing. The majority of their fruit matures within a month or two and appears at the ends of the branches. Indeterminate varieties continue to grow and produce tomatoes all along the stems throughout the growing season. Indeterminate plants need extra-tall supports of at least 5 feet.
